Current Challenges – Future Opportunities in Glaucoma

Glaucomatous optic neuropathy is the leading cause of irreversible blindness world-wide and much progress has taken place in recent years with respect to the diagnosis and management as well as our understanding of the underlying diseases. Recent evidence from the Mayo Clinic suggests that rates of glaucoma blindness have halved over recent decades. So progress has been made but a number of significant challenges persist. This talk will consider both the recent successes as well as the challenges and opportunities that face researchers, clinicians and patients impacted by glaucoma.
